AISG Vs Xiguan Foreign Language School Friendly Game!

Both girls and boys’ teams played five games in total and tried their hardest. This practice was a chance for AISG to get some experience against local schools which they normally don’t play in tournaments and was a great chance for the team to get some practice, as APAC was canceled.

Both teams did a great job on their hits, digs, tips, receives, or serves. They did not let the scores bring them down and they kept hyping themselves up which led to some amazing plays.

Though this match was only a friendly one, both teams are wanting a rematch for both practices and a chance to showcase what they have learned from the experience.

The teams want to improve their defense and their range of hits and individual skills. The Xiguan Foreign Language School and AISG both get great practice out of these games which will hopefully continue in the following years as a preparation for APAC and other tournaments.

“The game on Saturday was against one of the top volleyball teams in Guangzhou, and we performed well against them. I think one improvement we can make was defense, especially blocking. Our blockers were often too slow to block and consequently, they would score most of the time by hitting through the gap between the middle blocker and the hitters. I would definitely want a rematch because it trains our defense quite a bit and it is really fun to play against the high competition,” said Richie L., a senior at AISG and captain of the varsity boys’ volleyball team.

“I wish I tried different kinds of hits instead of doing normal hits, where its more expectable. I think our team was prepared well as a group, but I wish I had spent more time practicing on my own individual skill. I am satisfied with the performance, instead, I would like to have a rematch with the local school,” said Euna J., a sophomore at AISG and middle starter for the varsity girls’ volleyball team.
