Jenny L., is currently a senior, attending school at AISG for 6 years. She is currently the coordinator for the Roots and Shoots: Animals. She is also an active participant in AISG’s performing arts, namely the musicals! Jenny’s hobbies include drawing, arts and craft, cross stitch and singing.

Before joining musicals and theatre Jenny L., has been an avid art student with the dream of becoming a professional artist. At the time she did not even blink an eye towards the performing arts.

“Our school decided to host a middle school musical before the summer holiday started. As an art student at the time, I was thinking only about stage and costume design. It never crossed my mind to sign up to audition for a cast member. My best friend at the time, who is a music student, was so excited for the musical and didn’t hesitate to sign up for the audition. I didn’t understand what was fun about a musical production”

Despite her confusion, she still signed up to audition in the musical just to see what the hype and excitement was all about.

“The audition went well, better than I expected. The cast list came out; I somehow got a major role, and I even had a duet song. We had two performances at the end of May, and many teachers and parents came to the show. It was the first time I ever experienced the joy of performing on stage and how the sound of the audience’s applause brought me a sense of accomplishment.”

Her first musical was the AISG 2017 production of “S’Cool”.

Jenny never stopped auditioning after middle school, and has been cast for every musical since she was a freshman, including “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”, “25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee”, “Annie” and “Bugsy Malone”.

“I like telling stories and I think doing theatre and musicals is one of the best ways to do it. The character are so diverse and interesting, and having the opportunity to play them and explore their character is one of the best parts of a musical because you don’t meet a lot of people like those in a musical,” Jenny says.

“Four years later, as a senior moving on to college soon, I have performed in five school musical productions and countless acting projects. It wasn’t until this point that I realized how grateful I am for what my friend did four years ago”.
