💋⬆︎: Beware the Kiss-Ups

Does anyone really enjoy sharing classes with kiss-ups?

You know, that kid who does everything and bends over backwards to get attention from their teachers even if it doesn’t guarantee a good grade. In many cases, teachers know which of their students fall into that specific category of sycophantic-ness. However, in other cases, teachers aren’t always aware that some of their students aren’t always the perfect pupil they try to be in class because they are pretty good actors, and aren’t obvious about not being themselves. Generally, this personality change is really annoying to most of their classmates.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being a little more well behaved around teachers, especially since they are grading you and have an impact on your GPA as well as ATL’s. But I think that changing your personality completely just to get a specific teacher to like you is a bit much.

Basically, kiss-ups are like a pest. They disrupt the true atmosphere of a classroom and take away the realness of the class by distracting irritated students showing the facade that no one else is interested in. These behaviors should be adjusted by students because, in the end, they are not guaranteed that A+ they are trying so hard to slither their way into. Just try your best, be yourself and in most cases, you will get the same grade and the grade you truly deserve. Teachers don’t tend to give an extra mark because of their student’s sycophantic personality. Trust me, I’ve lived with teachers for 16 years.

Teacher life hack: If you suspect a kiss-up in your class, pay attention to the way they behave around their friends. If nothing changes in their personality, they probably just really enjoy your class. 😉
