2019-2020 Executive Council

On Tuesday, April 23, all students from grade nine to eleven gathered in the theater for the Executive Council election speeches. It was evident that all candidates had prepared thoroughly and spent a lot of time to produce a speech that would impress the audience. Unfortunately, only four of the candidates were selected as members of the 2019-2020 Executive Council.

Here are the newly elected Executive Council members:

Executive President: Lisa Mo

Executive Vice President: Gabriel Kim

Executive Secretary: Sabrina Chu

Executive Treasurer: Brandon Lee

Senior Vicky J., who is currently the grade 12 General Council president, commented that “people should see what happens behind the scenes of what StuCo members do, because school events require a lot of time to prepare and to execute.” Since students are not able to see what happens and who truly sacrifices their time when planning these events, it is “easy for students to be convinced by good speeches.”

An anonymous member of the General Council suggested that “they should have stricter requirements for who is able to apply for a position in not only the Executive Council but also the General Council.” Some suggestion for future improvement is “having candidates with higher GPA apply, distributing the workload equally, and having teachers drop by weekly meetings to check up on the progress.”
