• Bookmarks: 643063

On May 7, 2019, junior IB Music students performed after school in the theater for their music recital. Cathy Z., one of the performers said that the recital was “a solo performance concert for IB music students” and was “part of [their] academic grades.” She said that the music recital was a course requirement and was worth 50% of their IB grades.

Jack F. played “Czardas”—a Hungarian dance with a slow introduction but a fast, wild finish—by Monti and Minuet in G major and by Beethoven on violin.

Belinda T. played a classic Chinese piece, “战台风” by 王昌元 on the guzheng (or the Chinese zither). The featured image is Belinda T. playing the guzheng during the recital.

Cathy Z. played “1ère Arabesque by Debussy,” “Aria from the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major” by J.S. Bach, and “Movements 1 & 2 of six studies in English folk song” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, on clarinet.

Junior Selina Y. stayed to watch the recital and said, “It was my first time, and I came to support my friends. As a clarinet player myself, I most enjoyed Cathy’s clarinet performance. All of the performances were phenomenal, and I strongly encourage everyone to come and watch the next music recital!”
