2020 NBA Off-season

• Bookmarks: 442520

The NBA trade season is once again upon us. Team trading had officially began completing deals at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, two days ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft. Many teams are unhappy and looking for new players and this trade season would prove to be an interesting one.

In this compressed NBA off season, the moves and the news are coming fast and furious. Trades, draft night and contract extensions are everywhere. We’ve already seen some of NBA’s biggest and brightest stars, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Jrue Holiday and Dennis Schröder on the move.

One of the most surprising trade decision of all had to be the management of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s decisions to trade out nearly everyone on its starting lineup and making a decision to almost completely rebuilding their lineup. Several other noticeable news came up as Anthony Davis who coming off of a championship run just last season decided to not leave in free agency, deciding to re-sign with the Lakers on Thursday for the maximum money and the maximum years: $190 million over 5 seasons. Lebron James, the Lakers star has also agreed to a two-year, $85 million maximum contract extension with the franchise. With this deadly combination, the Lakers might be looking at a back to back championship.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, 26, the NBA’s reigning two-time MVP and Defensive Player of the Year have agreed to a supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks worth $228.2 million over the next five years breaking the record for the largest deal in NBA trade history. Another significant trade that was shocking to some people was the Houston Rockets agreeing to trade their All-Star and league MVP point guard Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards for John Wall and a lottery protected first round pick.

These are just a selected few of the many trades that are happening in the NBA right now. The trading deadline for the 2020>21 season, pending approval from the league’s Board of Governors, will be March 25, 2021. There are still many chances for more interesting and surprising trades to occur so for more information about the NBA trading season, please visit ESPN and NBA.
