The annual tradition of “Senior Prank Day” at AISG was continued by the Class of 2023 the Wednesday of the week before the seniors went on study-leave to prepare for exams. The week consisted of many exciting activities for the cohort as they wrapped up their final five days of classes, including rehearsals for the senior dance they performed at AISG’s Talent Show as well as the senior farewell assembly videos and awards.
For this year’s prank day, an emphasis was placed on personalized pranks for each of the seniors’ teachers, as many wanted to highlight the inside jokes formed through the past two years that they had been in class with them. This included “I Survived” posters with Mr. Kennett, satirical propaganda posters, and printing fan art from teachers’ favorite video games to hang on their classroom walls.
Alongside the more personal pranks that were displayed inside classroom, some classic, veteran ones were also pulled- such as blocking off the campus’s main staircase at the plaza and the staircase leading to the fourth floor, and toilet paper being draped across railings and hallways.
Other memorable displays were the inflated Among Us crewmate floating above the library and the party banners which were also hung above. Not to mention the Estonia flags printed and stuck around the walls all around the school.
Seniors organized an email scheduled to be sent to all the juniors by Ms. Partee at 8:00 am the morning of prank day stating that the school would be making a shift from teaching them the IB program to the Advanced Placement or AP program. This proved to be effective in giving the juniors a scare, as multiple students reported asking both Ms. Partee and Ms. Hong whether the email was real.
“The email was probably my favorite prank because I had fun writing it and it had the greatest impact on my beloved juniors,” said Ethan Y., a senior at AISG.
Some members of the senior cohort elected to stay after school on Tuesday until 6:30 pm in order to put their best efforts forward to surprise the rest of AISG. Without their dedication, most of the pranks may not have happened.
The Class of 2023 has definitely kept the legacy alive with this year’s pranks, and they will be tough for next year’s class to top.
