It’s the final year of high school and the seniors already feel the pressure. Extended essays, college applications, IAs and the class favourite, CAS: with so much to do, the pressure might seem excruciating. But after asking a couple of seniors from the AISG Class of 2017, here’s a list of tips about how to survive senior year!

Tips and Tricks

  1. Surround yourself with positive people: school is tough but the right people make it better.
  2. Confide in your teachers; they care and have your best interests at heart.
  3. Take breaks when it gets too much; you might think that you shouldn’t be taking a break but when you know it’s getting too hard, please take the break.
  4. Everyone finds this annoying because every single person  says this but do organise your timeline; keep track of when you need to do what.
  5. People don’t say this often enough but, have fun! It’s your senior year, and aside from all the academics it still is your last year in high school!
  6. Telling you to sleep eight hours might seem impossible to you, but try to get work done as early as possible so that you can sleep. We know we might think it’s cool when we brag about how little we’ve slept, but no amount of coffee will help with the weariness during the day.
  7. Be excited! Along with having fun, don’t be gloomy about what may or may not happen in the future but have a positive and enthusiastic view towards it.

Tips from: Punya Bhargawa, Lynn Maekawa and Yan Li.

Best of luck! For thoughts from the current seniors about their year, please see Nina and Chirag’s article.
