PULSE Celebrates De Los Muertos

PULSE is organising a Halloween party this year on October 27th. The theme this year is De Los Muertos, and it will take place in the gym. Like last year, there will be a haunted house, games and a costume contest. De Los Muertos, which translates to Day of The Dead, is a Mexican celebration. On that day, people remember those who have departed and prepare special foods and decorate their houses or graves. I interviewed two people, Belle Feldmayer, the coordinator of PULSE and Tanya Khanna, a member of PULSE.

When I asked about how they came up with the theme this year, Belle said, “We learnt from past years that doing things too out of the ordinary don’t work out well. When we were thinking about theme possibilities, Mr. Tragert offered the idea, and we decided it could be interpreted in many ways and can be both scary and cute.” Last year, the theme was carnEVIL, and Belle said that was the most successful it has been in a while. She said, “It was tons of fun and we got lots of good feedback.”

A difference between this year and last year is that the food is PULSE-based and not by outside food vendors. They are also working on improving their haunted house.

When asked to give some advice, Belle said, “Have fun and bring your friends! It truly is an amazing event and a great way to spend time with friends when school gets tough.” Tanya said, “Expect it to be different, not boring and definitely not typical.”

Tickets go on sale on Monday, 9th October for approximately 50RMB outside the cafeteria. See you there!
