Soccer season is back! Last year’s AISG’s boys’ team made an unbelievable result by earning the first ever 2nd place at the Tri-Cities soccer tournament. Unluckily, due to 1/4 of the players not being able to continue playing on the team, the boys’ team received 11th place at Super APAC. The girls’ team, on the other hand, got 4th place at Tri-Cities, but received 8th place in the Super APAC Tournament.
As the new season is starting, many players have left and many new players joined the team. In the boys’ varsity soccer team, Thomas Sepahi, Ibrahim Ba, Nino Lee, Ayman Mekkaoui, Pierce Julian, and Kayzad left the team. Luckily, new, young, and passionate players, including, Rahul Samtani, Sean Lee, Josh Hipolito joined the team.
In the girls’ varsity soccer team, five freshmen: Noya, Leah, Sofia, Raima, and Grace have joined the team. Six sophomores also joined the team. Hary, Rachel, Chile, Emily, Abby, and Xinyi started their first year in the soccer varsity team. Also, two Juniors, Megan Harwood and Raven Hipolito joined the team this year. The new captain of the girl’s varsity team is Nina Sepahi, the passionate engine for the girl’s team.
The new captain of the boys’ team this year are Edward Choi, the first Korean soccer captain in AISG’s history, and Karan Vasdev, the Indian Playmaker. The team stated that they are “much better than last year”, which means that we can expect some astonishing results this year.
The first soccer tournament will be Tri-Cities, which will start this Friday, March 9th at Science Park. Come and cheer for the boys’ and the girls’ teams!
