The nervous candidates stood at the side of the room, anxiously reciting their speeches. They paced back and forth, tensely awaiting their turns to speak in front of their ninth grade peers.
First up was Andy Jeong, who ran for GenCo Treasurer. Since he was running with no competition, he automatically got the spot. Second was Antonette Liao for Secretary. Once again, she was running unopposed, and earned her position before the votes were even counted.
However, Ai Ni Chew and Menu Senthil competed for the spot of Vice President. Although both had strong speeches, Ai Ni Chew ultimately won the vice presidency.
Lastly, Alex Kwon and Kevin Hsuan went head to head for the top spot as ninth grade GenCo President. Their speeches were both compelling and valid. However, after each person carefully presented his arguments, Kevin Hsuan won the position as the President of the Grade 9 GenCo.
Overall, the elections were a success, and hopefully, the elected students will do an outstanding job of representing the ninth grade.
