Cantonese Cuisine

Cantonese food is renowned around Guangzhou. The taste of the food is very bland, and not very salty or spicy. Some delicacies are siumai, a pork dumpling with shrimp in the middle. It is very tasty, but keeps to the bland taste of Cantonese food. I think that Cantonese food is very good, because I eat it every day, and it does not overload my taste sense. Another special part of Cantonese cuisine is the stir fried food. This includes food such as soy sauce noodles and stirfried beef.  I think that Cantonese cuisine is truly special, as they use many ingredients to bring out special tastes, such as salt and chili.

Congee is very crucial to Cantonese cuisine as well. It is a quick but healthy snack for many people, as we can drink it very quick, and it gives us lots of energy as it contains rice. There are many variants of congee, such as ground meat in congee, and 1000 year egg. This egg is very special, because it is traditionally put in soy sauce for a very long time, and requires a special temperature so it does not rot. Another specialty is preserved sausage. It is preserved with wine, and does not rot, as it also requires a special time where there is a north wind. This north wind completely dries out the sausage, so it can be put in a storage container for a very long time. I think that Cantonese cuisine is very good, and has many different specialties that makes it tasty.

Some popular restaurants in Guangzhou where you can try Cantonese cuisine, such as 炳胜 and 点都德. You can find them in Zhujiang or Tianhe, where there are many famous restaurants. You can find more restaurants here.
