APAC Orchestra, an event with mere competition between students, but rather an opportunity to share passion in the traditional music instruments gathered more than 80 students throughout the Asia Division of APAC activities, comprised of the six school, American International School of Guangzhou, Concordia International School, Canadian Academy, Hong Kong International School, Seoul Foreign School, and lastly Shanghai American School PuXi. The students went through intense, yet bonding training of multiple pieces through a four day period and learned to work together as a whole to perform harmonious pieces.
Peter Stark, a professor of Conducting at London’s Royal College of Music, was invited to conduct the students from the six schools. The students were honoured to have such a scarce opportunity of working with such a talented, while skilful conducted who had travelled over Europe and Asia to arrive at AISG.
The final results from three days of training and practicing was revealed to an audience of more than 150, made up of parents, students, and teachers from the multiple schools. The students suited up, with the addition of Conductor Stark, all in concordant black. The athletically distinct atmosphere within the gym had been transformed into the stage of a formal orchestra. Within the hour of performance, three uniquely wonderful pieces were presented, and even earned the add-on of a fast-paced and cheerful encore.
