It seems that mass shooting of people in America is not the only problem for the police to be aware of, after the police captured five 5th grade students who were trying to plant a bomb at the Clifton school on December 2, located in Northern New Jersey. The students were on a field trip from their school to watch the practice performance in the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and was each equipped with a device filled with vinegar and cinnamon to school, which they later planned to plant at the nearby Clifton High school. Although the bomb was turned out not explosive, the notes found by the teachers of the school which was written by the students themselves, believing that the bomb they possessed will actually explode, and tried to detonate it.
The five students, including 4 boys and 1 girl, were caught at the field trip, and the police went into investigation right away. After the investigation, the students were sent back home to their parents, as well as being suspended from school. The public has been glad the police took great action regarding the event, such as Carlos Oliveros, a resident near the school saying”These days you can’t over-react. You have to take everything serious, I’m glad the teachers took action.” Also, Bracken, the spokesmen for the Clifton police stated, “They didn’t have the right equipment, but the intent was there, this is very disturbing”, showing that crimes should be dealt seriously at any consequences and should not be different even if the accused is a young person.
This event depicts another problem provoking in the American society, where more and more young Americans are starting to take part in serious crimes. In addition to the recent California mass shooting, an attempt by several young people to bomb a school should not be regarded without care and should be investigated and dealt with great care.
In any situation, it would be hard for the police to prevent these serious crimes from coming into action, but if they can prevent an action from happening, they should do anything they possibly can with what they’ve got.
