This year, on April 19 and 20, the NHS will be holding a Pie the Teachers event. Pie the Teachers is a raffle in which students can pay 5 RMB for a raffle ticket, where they can enter to throw a pie at the teacher of their choice. The teachers participating this year are Mr. Tragert, Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Madden, Mr. Kydd, Mr. Seiple, Ms. Partee, Ms. Lin, Ms. Dean, and Ms. Martin-Bauer. The proceeds from this event will be donated to UNICEF, which NHS has been focusing on this year.
The teachers were suggested by the NHS members and were then approached and asked for their approval. About half of the teachers approached agreed to be pied. The event will be held on April 19 and 20. Until then, students who wish to pie the teachers can pay 5 RMB for a raffle ticket. The student then writes the name of the teacher they want to pie, and the ticket is entered into a raffle box.
While this event sounds fun and lighthearted, it was a source of controversy last year. Last year, many students eagerly bought tickets to pie the teachers. Then, as the event drew nearer, the students began regretting their choices, especially once they saw the poor teachers. Thankfully, the event will be more fun and less tense than it was last year. The NHS is confident that students and teachers alike will enjoy the event.
Tickets for Pie the Teachers are available outside the cafeteria for 5 RMB until Wednesday, April 18.
