So, procrastination is super fun. Especially when you’re watching TV shows on your computer. But in reality, watching TV shows is fun anytime. And so, since it was recently April Break, and I didn’t go anywhere, I had a lot of time to watch TV shows and I found a few good ones. Here a few recommendations for new tv shows to watch.
Superstore
I just found this comedy show centered around a superstore called Cloud 9 and I already love it. It features an over-trusting but lovable Store Manager, Glenn, a strict and unemotional assistant manager, Dina, and other lower-level workers like Amy, Jonah, Cheyenne, Matteo, and Garrett. The main character is Amy, who is played by America Ferrera, who also produces the show, and it also features Ben Feldman (Jonah) and Nichole Bloom (Cheyenne). I couldn’t specifically tell you why this show is so funny to me, but I think it’s a combination of falling in love with the characters extremely quickly and the casual, random shots of the store with none of the main characters there. These weird excerpts are funny to me too. Also, they are currently in the middle of season 3 so you will have plenty of episodes to jump in with. If you are a fan of “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and need another amazing ‘office-based’ show, or an ‘easy-watch’ like “Bob’s Burgers,” I especially recommend this to you.
30 Rock
30 Rock is another new comedy show that I found, which focuses on Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and her job as the writer of a TV show for NBC originally called “The Girly Show,” and later “T.G.S with Tracy Jordan” (Tracy Morgan). It’s more than somewhat based on “Saturday Night Live. The series also features diva Jenna Maroney, played by Jane Krakowski, Liz’s boss, Jack Donaghy, played by Alec Baldwin. Fun fact: Alec Baldwin is distantly related to Abby P, a sophomore Beacon contributor. There are a lot of other characters that make this show good as well: Kenneth Parcell (played by Jack McBrayer), the complaisant Page, ready to do whatever’s necessary for the actors, Pete Hornberger (played by Scott Adsit) is the producer for the show who is also very close to Liz. Although the show has already ended, it is still a great watch.
Lucifer
This is a very unique and interesting show which follows the ‘Devil,’ named Lucifer Morningstar on his ‘vacation’ to Los Angeles. The show is based on characters made by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. It literally follows the ‘Devil,’ and the celestial family. When coming from ‘Hell,’ Lucifer brings Mazikeen (played by Lesley-Ann Brandt), a ‘demon’ along with him. This is not a traditional comedy show, but the character Lucifer himself has quite an odd personality. In the show, he works with a police detective, Chloe Decker (played by Laura German) and her ex-husband Detective Daniel Espinoza (played by Kevin Alejandro) to fight crime. He also becomes close to his therapist, Linda Martin (played by Rachael Harris), who does not believe that he is truly The Devil, but instead thinks it is some sort of metaphor until he reveals his true self to her. Lucifer’s brother and mother also come to LA after. Amenadiel is his brother (played by D.B. Woodside) and Charlotte is his mother (played by Tricia Helfer).
Those are just a few of the new TV shows that I love right now, so feel free to try them out if you’d like a fun way to spend your time too.
