Winter is in the Air

WWinterFormal2b 24ith the winter holiday over with the words on everyone’s lips are all about the Winter SemiFormal held this past weekend at McCawleys thanks to the amazing efforts of AISG’s Pulse group. With a wing of the restaurant reserved there was plenty of room to mingle and talk, for a short while that is. Once the dance got in full swing more and more people showed up and by the end of the night there was hardly enough room on the dance floor to move. So there was a success in the attendance department.

WinterFormal4Now on to the most important part of the evening, dinner. A spread of pasta, wings and what almost seemed like everything in between the catering was a 10 for 10 and the brownie desserts were an easy 11. Not only was the catering good but there was a special treat from the amazing Pulse team. S’Mores! Keeping with the wintery theme, even if the weather that day had been a pleasant temperature, the group brought everything necessary to make a very good set of S’Mores which you could build yourself.

The most interesting event of the evening, hands down, was the Winter Court Games. With four couples competing for the half off prom tickets these teens were ready and raring to go. Starting the games was a napkin passing game, of sorts. You had to pass the napkin between you and your team but there was a catch, no hands. With Juniors and seniors taking the victory and the sophomores, Max and Melody, being eliminated in the round, we watched as two couples went head to head on what should have simply been dubbed a game of Lava Floor. Folding a table cloth in half again and again two couples had to use some balancing skills as they remained on the small piece of uneven matt for as long as they could. The freshman and seniors won this odd mini challenge and we had to say goodbye to Sam and Yumin

Now came the third and final round of the evening, Chubby Bunnies. Using the marshmallows left over the girls had to slowly but surly begin stuffing the guys’ faces full of marshmallows. In the end Belle and Pierce forfeit the event and that meant the half price prom tickets were being given to Anderson and Nicole. All in all there were plenty of laughs shared between everyone and plenty of songs for others to dance to.

WinterFormal3Everyone seemed to be having a good time and thanks to the catering there were hundreds of compliments. “The food was very good, loved the nachos,” said tenth grader Cassidy, “I had a lot of fun taking pictures with friends.” The food seemed to be a common compliment throughout the evening, even going up through to the faculty. “It’s always fun to see students in a different environment outside of school,” Said Mr.Menton-a high school counselor. So thank you Pulse, way to make it feel like Christmas still.
