David Henrie, who played the role of Justin Russo in the Disney Channel television show “The Wizards of Waverly Place”, was arrested at Los Angeles International airport for gun possession as his firearm was discovered in his baggage by TSA officers. After being released from jail with a court date, he posted a statement about the incident on Twitter, apologizing for “unintentionally” bringing his loaded handgun into the airport. Here is what the 29-year-old actor revealed in his statement:

“I take responsibility for the situation at LAX today. I unintentionally brought my legally owned gun which is registered in my name to the airport. I am so sorry for any trouble it caused but I am appreciative of TSA’s efforts in implementing the safety laws that are in place to protect our beautiful country. More than anything I am humiliated and embarrassed that this even happened, but am thankful to the TSA, LAPD and all involved today for their kindness and their professionalism during this process.”

People magazine reported that Henrie was released after paying $10,000 bail and will be seen in court on October 1st. Considering his age and the impact his actions might have on the teenage audiences that look up to the Disney star, it makes this incident worse. Senior, Amanda C. shared “I used to look up to the characters of the show, I was really surprised to see my childhood entertainment idol act out and behave this way. It’s quite disappointing to see more and more former Disney stars go down the ‘dark path'”. Although the actor shared on social media that this act was indeed involuntary, it does not change the fact that he brought a charged firearm in a public area. Contrastingly, junior Ben K. argued, “the fact that he was honest about this incident shows that he didn’t mean for anything bad to happen”. Personally, I think David Henrie acted superficially, thinking that bringing a charged firearm in an airport wouldn’t have any further consequences. But more importantly, what was he planning on doing with this gun?

This is definitely a controversial matter, comment down below what you think of this!
