Just like the previous years, sophomores are heading off to HongKong next Tuesday for China trips! Personally, I am excited and as we are finally off to a place near the sea this year, also am expecting to experience more “fresh” or new things during this trip. I interviewed a few sophomores on their opinion and prior knowledge of this trip.
Sofia V., a sophomore stated how she has heard many opinions from seniors and juniors about this year’s trip and at the moment, she has a mixed feeling upon it. She also is not “ready for this trip, and [she is] very nervous” as both good and bad opinion was heard. She also stated how Dragonfly trips are always unpredictable and unexpected, which makes these trips both exciting and sometimes miserable. Sofia V. has also been in China trips since 6th grade and she loves the good memories created throughout the journey of experiencing and learning. She also added how she loves the instructors of Dragonfly as they are easy-going and often generous, which makes her even more excited about this year’s trips.
Jeff H., another sophomore added in how since there are water activities such as canoeing, he feels even more enthused than the previous years. Additionally, although he is from HongKong, Jeff H. has not been around the area where our trip will take place.
Jason P. stated a different perspective than the two, revealing how there will be 7 people in a dorm and will only be 3 showers for 30 people to share. He is worried about this but other than that, he feels thrilled and excited about the coming up China trip of 2018.
The activities we will have this year include canoeing, hiking, and additionally, each dorm will have up to 7 boys or 8 girls. Students will also have to share bathrooms and showers, allowing them to experience or take risks furthermore.
