Can’t go to China Trips? Come to The Local Trip

• Bookmarks: 602380

Next Tuesday, high school will be off to China trips! Unfortunately, there are 5 students who are not able to attend and will be going on the local trip in Guangzhou. What will they be doing?

The local trip was designed to make sure that students who cannot attend China trips manage to get their share of cultural experience and community service, supervised by Mr. Baier and Ms. Partee. On the trip, we will be doing many fun activities to explore different areas around Guangzhou. Some of these activities include visiting and exploring religious cultural sites, local toy and food markets, historic buildings, the art museum on Ersha, and more. There have been some adjustments to the schedule this year. This year, for community service, we will be visiting the Ersha campus to meet the preschoolers and help out the teachers.

We have a few students who will be attending the local trip for the first time, and some who will be going on the trip again. Sophomore Angelina C., who will be going on the local trip for the first time, stated that “[she is] not really excited for the local trip because [she doesn’t] find the things we are doing fun, but [she is] looking forward to the food.” Furthermore, she said that “we can explore Guangzhou ourselves, and most of the people probably already did.” On the other hand, senior Ji Hyun P. had a very different opinion on how she is feeling about the trip. Last year, she went on the first three days of the local trip and will also be attending the local trip this year. She was very satisfied with the trip last year and said that ” [she is] looking forward to the local trip because [she thinks] it will be really fun, especially that they have changed some of the activities this year.”

Although we are quite familiar with this city, it is exciting to be able to explore the different areas around the city that we haven’t been to, and have a better sense of the culture and community.
