In just a week, the girls varsity basketball team will be off to Concordia International School of Shanghai (CISS) for Super APAC. Super APAC differs from normal APAC, as Super APAC only occurs every 4 years and is a tournament where all 12 APAC schools come together to compete. On the other hand, normal APAC is split into two divisions and is located in different schools.
Last year, the team travelled to Taejeon Christian International School (TCIS) for APAC and ended on a strong note in 2nd place. Since we lost a lot of experienced players this season, the team is working harder, pushing our fitness as it is what the teams lacks in most.
As Super APAC is approaching soon, many players on the team are very excited. Paoping Y, who will be attending a Super APAC tournament for the 2nd time commented that “when [she] was at super APAC volleyball, it was really fun and exciting to see all 12 schools come together, it was a really good experience and [she’s] really looking for the tournament next week.” Sadly, this will be the last APAC basketball tournament for the three seniors on the team; Maggie M, Sophie E, and Becky R. Sophomore. Senior Maggie M. stated that she is “honored as a senior to be able to play at two super APAC basketball tournaments in [her] 4 years of high school.” She is looking forward for Super APAC as “[her] entire basketball career has been amazing as the team that [she has] been in for the past three years have had great results at APAC.” Although the team had great results the past few years, “this year’s team is very different with many more underclassmen compared to upperclassmen. However, [she is] excited to see what is ahead of our team at not only Super APAC, but the upcoming years.”
