‘Scar’red by the Oscars!

Kevin Hart is a well-known comedian who was given the prestigious opportunity to host the Oscars for 2019. This was his dream. It held a place on his bucket list.

The next morning after hearing the best news of his life, he saw a comment on Twitter going viral.

It is understandable of why people would take offense of such posts, however this was 10 years ago.

A homophobic comment he made 10 years ago was brought up after the announcement about the Oscars was publicized. Soon after, Hart appeared on the Ellen Show, where this incident was discussed. Hart very openly apologized again for what he believed was a mistake of his past, from which he has grown and come to understand how his words can hurt people. He felt attacked on purpose by people who had the intention to “destroy” him completely, to “end” his entire career and connections with the industry.

Ellen, being a good friend of Hart, expressed understanding of his feelings about the issue. Although Ellen felt that Hart should ignore the people who showed hatred over an issue that Hart had worked for 10 years to fix, the interview resulted in him making the decision to walk away from the Oscar hosting position to make sure the night did not become about him, but focused the attention on the deserving actors.

Ellen had made a call earlier before the show and spoke to the management in charge of hiring the host for the Oscars. They confirmed that they would be more than happy to have him as their host, as it was a misunderstanding in communication. As of mid-January, it still remains undecided whether or not Kevin Hart will be hosting the Oscars.
