As the school returned from the long and joyous Chinese New Year break, community services have been up and running, coming up with new events to get back in action. Community service at AISG is always buzzing! These are the events that have happened and are upcoming that you might want to keep your eyes out for:

The English Connection: TEC started the Search for Rambo on Feb. 29; it ended on 4 March. The Search for Rambo was a scavenger hunt where students solved riddles and followed clues to find the kidnapped Rambo. Students helped detective Sophia Willis. The first ten people to find Rambo were rewarded handsomely by detective Willis.

Migrant Link: Our Rams at Migrant Link are looking forward to their visit to the centre for the children of the migrant workers.

GIN: GIN will be visiting the Shaoguan girls after their successful Trivia Night held in late January. GIN raised enough money to obtain a scholarship for 5 girls. Thanks to the AISG community, the Shaoguan girls have been able to attend high school for years.

Habitat for Humanity: Habitat just had its first build of 2015-2016! Habitat students went to Conghua, Guangdong province. The build helped the people of the Shiming village rebuild their homes. Students left on March 11 for the weekend.

Crossroads: Crossroads is having their annual clothes drive to help the “Home of Hope” located in the poorest area of China. All students are requested to donate any children or teenage clothes that they do not need to Room 308.

Roots and Shoots Animals & People: Veggie is Edgy is back from March 3 until April 13! Eating veggie can get you a Starbucks gift card! Show your veggie meal during lunch to one of the R&S Animals staff and get a raffle ticket that could be your chance for free drinks at Starbucks.

Pulse: 18 March is the date of the spring event hosted by Pulse: Moments. The theme is social media-based, and games and movies will be played. There will be a real life Angry Bird slingshot game in the form of Twitter birds, and a movie in the Vine section outside. Make sure to buy your tickets this week.

Litmag: Lit mag is still alive! The decades of quality work will be never seen if our students do not submit articles to keep this piece of our culture alive. Try your best to submit some prose or poetry ASAP, please!

Hoops for Hope: Basketball is back in action at AISG for both the high schoolers and middle schoolers. The annual tournament will be held on March 26 for adults and March 27 for the middle schoolers. As always, winners get brand new NIKE shoes! Registration forms can be found in Mr Elliott’s office. Sign up and have fun!
