On March 23, the AISG badminton team participated in the GISAC (Guangzhou International School Athletic Conferences) tournament held in the Olympic center badminton court near AISG. Both girls’ and boys’ badminton teams resulted in first place overall; a great improvement in placing from previous years.
Senior boys’ doubles player Neil Yang mentioned: “the game was tiring because it was right after mocks. However, it was a good experience to see where we are right before APAC.” Although GISAC tournaments are easier than APAC tournaments, it was a good game to spot some strengths and weaknesses in the team overall. For the next six practices, sophomore Marco L. says, “we should improve on all the problems that we experienced during GISAC to prepare ourselves for APAC.”
The results for GISAC are as follow:
Girl’s badminton team: 1st place
Boy’s badminton team: 1st place
Boys singles:
Marco Luo: 1st place
Michael Lai: 6th place
Girls singles:
Michelle Zhu: 1st place
Victoria Yang: 3rd place
Boys’ doubles:

Borui Chen & Ben Lu: 3rd place
Girls’ doubles:

Agnes Lau & Arete Song: 3rd place
Mixed doubles:
