The Vaping Ban in The United States

After a total of seven deaths in the U.S., president Trump is planning to ban vaping all over the country. Currently, vaping has been banned in a total of 20 cities and states.

Popular vaping companies such as Juul have been accused of targeting younger audiences. They advertise flavors such as Cool Mint, Mango, and Cucumber—which are more appealing to teenagers than adults. The original intention of vapes was for them to be an alternative for cigarettes to switch to. Instead, minors who have never smoked, have developed a nicotine addiction through using these vapes.

A common misconception is e-cigarettes are a healthier option for smokers. While that is true because vapes do not contain any tobacco unlike cigarettes, there has been numerous negative short-term consequences discovered with the use of vapes. Over 500 people in the U.S. alone have been diagnosed with illnesses and a total of 7 deaths due to vaping.

So, if vapes are getting banned, why don’t cigarettes get banned too? Is the United States government trying to imply that cigarettes are better to use than vapes? Because clearly, they do. In my opinion, if they are banning vapes, they should ban cigarttes too, to completely eliminate smoking.
