iPhone 11? More like iPhone XS+1 Camera

Apple’s new iPhone 11 has finally been unveiled during their September Keynote Event, along side many other Apple related products. However, this years iPhone did not generate as much buzz among the average consumer as previous years.

This can be accredited to the fact that all the specs had been leaked to the public well before the event. Practically everything that was revealed during the presentation, from the three camera’s to the “pro” version of the iPhone, was already known by consumers.

The new lineup of phones includes the iPhone 11, as well as two higher-end models in the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, both of which include four-figure price tags. These new models are replacing the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max from the previous year.

With this year’s new iPhone models, Apple has also implemented a new program to help with sales. If you currently own an iPhone that is iPhone SE or later (iPhone SE to iPhone XS Max), you can trade it in upon purchasing the new iPhone 11 model’s to receive a discount. The more recent the model is, the higher the discount will be. For example, if I currently own an iPhone XS Max, I can trade it in and receive a $600 discount on my iPhone 11 Pro purchase, buying it for $399 instead of the usual $999. Likewise, if I have an iPhone 6s, I can trade it in and receive a $100 discount on my iPhone 11 Pro purchase, buying it for $899 instead of $999. This program works for all three of the new iPhone models.

Apple has taken a more “traditional” route with the iPhone 11. Not much has changed from previous models – the only notable change being the new A13 Bionic Chip. According to Apple, the A13 Bionic Chip is the “fastest chip in a smartphone,” making the iPhone 11 20% faster across all boards when compared to the A12 Bionic Chip found in last year’s iPhone XS and XS Max models. Think of the iPhone 11 as last year’s iPhone XR, an entry level phone that allows the consumer to get a few of the upgrades found in the higher-end models without breaking the bank. The dual-camera setup has also changed appearance to look like the camera found in the iPhone 11 pro model’s, if that makes a big difference. The iPhone 11 is available in six different colors starting at $699 USD.

Apple’s main selling point for the iPhone 11 pro’s? A better camera. The new iPhone 11 pro’s offer a new triple-camera system that allows one to take higher resolution pictures, as well as ultra wide photos. But is a camera upgrade worth $300-$400 USD? Personally, I don’t think the iPhone 11 is worth the upgrade, especially if you already own an iPhone X or XS. Even if you don’t, why purchase an iPhone 11 when you can get essentially the same phone, the iPhone XS, for much cheaper now. If a camera upgrade really is that important to you, why not purchase a camera? Furthermore, the camera has sparked many memes. Just go on Google and search “iPhone 11 memes.” I promise you won’t be disappointed.

When asked if she would purchase any of the new iPhone 11 models, Paoping Y. said “why would I ever pay that much for something that has the same function as the phone I have right now?”

Chloe I. also commented, “why [do] I need three cameras to look at my ugly face when one does the job.”

Ben K. also said that the most exciting thing about the iPhone 11 is all the memes that have come. “Have you seen the stages of mitosis meme with the iPhone cameras? Or the one about how the iPhone in 2100 will be covered with cameras?”

Many are speculating whether or not this release will lead to the ultimate downfall of Apple, as other substitutional brands such as Huawei are starting to rise in popularity. What are your opinions on this new release? Comment down below!
