On April 15, 2020 Netflix released Outer Banks, a series about a teen and his group of friends embarking on a journey to find a hidden treasure linked to his father’s disappearance.

Outer Banks focuses on a group of teenagers called the “Pogues” who live in The Cut, which is the working-class side of the Outer Banks located in North Carolina. John B and his three best friends, Pope, JJ, and Kie are determined to find a treasure that connects to John B’s father’s disappearance.

Throughout the series, John B and his friends are chased by the police and the “kooks” who are the wealthy kids from Figure Eight (the rich side of Outer Banks). We see how the group of friends overcome battles such as friendship disputes, drugs, trust, and love while trying to find the hidden treasure and discover the unsolved mystery of John B’s father’s disappearance.

Overall I would rate the show a 7/10. The show received a 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.6 IMBd rating. The show is binge-worthy because of its evolving plot and charismatic characters. The actors do a good job playing their roles but do look older than the age their assigned characters.

In the series the teens are 16-17 years old but are played by actors in their mid to late 20s. Personally, I think a lot of people enjoyed the show because of the authentic and unique adventures the teens go through.

Although there were a few plot holes, especially towards the end of the season, the teen drama is a good mix of mystery, adventure, and romance.
