Volleyball Twins’ Careers Ceased Over Allegations of Adolescent Bullying

Two of South Korea’s most adept volleyball twins Lee Jae Yeong (25) and Lee Da Yeong (25) have been debarred from getting involved in their national and club volleyball associations amid mass accusations over past teenage persecutions on January 15, 2021. The volleyball twins have both shown expressions of regret and pity after being denounced for oppressing and subjugating classmates and other volleyball player trainees during their adolescence.

In a removed post, inflicted victims of such bullying discussed their past tragedies of having to cope with the aftermaths of the twin’s persecutions. In the post, four anonymous victims broached the fact that they had considered moving on with occurrences that ensued almost ten years ago but were immediately inclined to unveil their past incidents after apprehending the fact that the perpetrators showed no signs of contemplation over their past deeds.

Both players have wished of wanting to confront the victims to offer their most sincere and very overdue apology. The twins promised in a repentant letter that they will take some time to cogitate on their past exploits with deep regret.

“I think part of the reason the people who allegedly claimed that the twins bullied, spoke out was that they were jealous of the twins’ successes to a certain extent,” said Elsie Z., a freshman at AISG. “But regardless, it’s still important for victims to stand up to their persecutors, and I understand that it must have taken the victims a great deal of audacity to speak up about their past tragedies.”

Claire P., an AISG parent, and avid volleyball supporter shared similar viewpoints on the following matter. She also included the fact the decision of victims to speak out against the volleyball twins has helped fan the flames of others’ decisions to speak boldly of their traumatic pasts correlated with adolescent bullying.

Over 120,000 Korean have signed and endorsed a petition to the Blue House or Cheongwadae, the administrative head office of South Korea, requesting for an exhaustive national-degree investigation regarding their immoral acts. The Korean Volleyball Association (KFA) propounded on February 15, 2021, that they had confirmed the dismissal of the volleyball twins, from both South Korea’s Women’s National Team and their associated club team, “Heungkuk Life Insurance: Pink Spiders.”

Their club team “Pink Spiders” has validated their suspension of the volleyball twins from playing on court for an unspecified duration. The KFA’s statement read that executives of South Korea’s Sports Council have decided to take stringent actions to prohibit further recurrences of similar adolescent bullying incidents. They also affirmed placing a rigorous embargo on school violence perpetrators from the Volleyball Nations League, The Tokyo Olympics, and other national or international competitions.
