Best Dundies Ever! – Memorable Moments From This Year’s Upper School Athletics and Activities Awards Ceremony
The 2020 – 2021 Upper School Athletics and Activities Awards Ceremony took place at the Science Park theatre on April 30, 2020. Athletes, Performers, MUN Delegates, members of the Vex Robotics and Quiz bowl Team, directors, and coaches of the upper high school attended the awards ceremony to celebrate the successes and achievements of this year’s season for athletics and activities.
Three to five students from each team were awarded for the following categories: Most Improved, Most Valuable Player (MVP), and Director Choice. “The Most Improved” award was awarded to an athlete or activity member who displayed significant improvement throughout the athletic season. The “Most Valuable Player” award was honored to a student who showed the most contribution and offered their team the most guidance, and the “Director’s Choice” award was given to a student who exhibited assiduous efforts throughout all seasons.
A number of special honors were rewarded to the most exceptional athletes and performers. Two outstanding athletes were awarded the male and female athletes of the year, and two preeminent performers were awarded the male and female performers of the year.
Furthermore, the Scott Mohr award, an award to memorialize the diligence and efforts of past AISG coach and director Mr. Scott Mohr, was awarded to a loving, sedulous, and pertinacious athlete who faultlessly displayed the qualities of Mr. Mohr.
Suyeon J., an attendee of the Upper School Athletics and Activities Awards Ceremony believed that the ceremony was a great way to display the efforts of many. In addition to her praise, she wanted to acclaim the dance team for their outstanding performance.
“Some speeches were humorous while others were more poignant,” remarked Eun Suk P., a parent of an award recipient at the ceremony. “It was a superb way to end this year’s seasons of athletics and activities.”
The Upper School Athletics and Activities Awards Ceremony is a long-established celebration at AISG. For this year’s ceremony, members and directors of peripheral, non-athletic activities including HS Model United Nations, Vex Robotics, and Quizbowl were also invited.
AISG’s Parent-Teacher Association courteously funded the costs of the palatable meals that were served in the Science Park campus plaza. The attire for the event was smart-casual, and all attendees were expected to keep good propriety and decorum throughout the ceremony.
