Crunchyroll crashes due to the pressure from titans.

One of the largest anime streaming sites, Crunchyroll, has crashed after the famous anime series, Attack on Titan, premiered part two of its fourth and final season. The humongous demand for the first episode of the second part of season four led to the platform shutting down and Downdetecter being flooded with thousands of reports from raging fans.

Mappa, the studio in charge of AOT, aired the first episode of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 in Japan at 12:05 am JST. Nonetheless, International fans had to wait until 3:45 PM Eastern Time for the subbed version. Sadly, due to Crunchyroll being down, most fans had to wait an extra grueling couple of hours until Crunchyroll was fixed.

Rival streaming sites Funimation and Hulu had the same problem as Crunchyroll but on a much lower scale, with only a hundred or so reports from angry fans.

“Although I don’t use Crunchyroll, if that happened to me on the streaming site I use, I would be furious. I’m glad I don’t use Crunchyroll,” said Jenny L, a freshman at AISG.

Attack on Titan Season 4 was one of the most anticipated anime returning this year. Especially after Mappa decided that the fourth season will be the long-awaited finale for Eren’s story, fans have been raving in anticipation for the conclusion to the story that was brought to life in 2013.

“I can’t imagine staying up until the release time just to have to wait a couple more hours because of my steaming site being unprepared, I sympathize with the fans,” said Ziyue Y. a Sophomore at AISG.

Downdetecter, a website specialized in tracking servers and providing real-time status and outage information, reported over 3000 reports on Crunchyroll when Attack on Titan was released on January 10.
