APAC Dance and the start of the new Semester

APAC dance has been in AISG for a long time, performing on the stage and practicing after school. Yandy is a dance teacher that has been dancing for more than 10 years and has been teaching the APAC dance team at AISG students for five years. How does Yandi react to the performances and the new members of APAC?

There was a performance at the AISG 40th Anniversary Gala on September 17. Although the schedule was changed from September 1 to September 17, all members of the APAC dance still practiced hard.

  1. How did you think APAC members did last time at the Gala?

“Last Gala Performance, it was great, and then I think you (APAC Dance members) will all practice by yourself, and then, it will be a little more independent. Then the tasks I assign, most of you can complete. I think it’s good,” said Yandy about the Gala performance.

  1. What are some expectations from the students?

“I hope for them to be more confident, integrate more into our big group, and then just play with dancing a bit. Dancing is not like a subject in school that needs to be learned. Dancing is to play, just playing with it, if they dance with a feeling then it’s relaxed and enjoyable. Due to the enjoyment, while performing to/with others there is a happy feeling transferring to each other. If you go out to compete to perform, it will give others a professional feeling which is quite like mine.” This is the first thing Yandy mentioned.

“Then I thought, the new members should practice more. Practice more basic skills, because the basic skills are the basic skills, they will not change. If you see the seniors from APAC, feel that the dancing team is not that stressful, because their pressure comes from the first and second years. The first year will be more stressful because you (new members) know nothing about the moves and how to control them, which will be hard. In fact, in the third year and the second year, you already know how the program goes, how many pieces are there, and how people are arranged. Everyone will be relatively relaxed a little bit, so the hardest is the first year.” This is the second point that Yandy made regarding the expectations for the new students.

APAC Dance is hard-working every time when they have a practice. However, the members of the group still enjoy the time that they are spending during the CCA.
