CCA Elder Care led by student coordinators, Richard W. and Jojo H. aims to enhance senior citizens’ social, psychological, and cultural well-being while reducing the stigma behind older people in the local community.

The purpose of creating the Elder Care GCED is to provide services to the elderly community.

“Nowadays, many elderly people are left alone and uncared for due to their family members often being busy at work. As a result, this service aims to take good care of the elderly, so that they and their children and relatives can rest assured.” Richard W., a senior of AISG and one of the student coordinators of Elder Care CCA.

The CCA hopes to share the worries of society by taking responsibility for the daily necessities and health insurance of elderly people while also handling psychological and social and cultural needs.

The Elder Care CCA has changed and impacted elderly care this past year. They have collaborations, spread awareness, and raised money for their cause.

They have collaborated with Huangpu Elder Center by making donations of towels, tissues, body lotions, and hair clippers. Due to COVID restrictions, they were restricted to only could being able to do donations, but it still made an impact on that center.

Posters and announcements have been made and shared with the AISG community all throughout October, it was a month full of events. Celebrated the elderly community.

During events, like Family Fun Day, the CCA had booths in which they raised 4000 RMB from the booth and donations from AISG families.

Elder Care CCA has additionally made educational videos for 3rd Graders in AISG and chosen representatives to speak during the ASAG meeting.

Darcie Flansburg, advisor for Elder Care CCA believes they have done a great job to the best of their abilities with the situation they were in due to Covid. The student coordinators worked through the situation with thoughtful and reflective activities that involved all members during their CCA time. “Because of Covid restrictions they have been unable to visit the retirement homes, but they have communicated with these homes to ask what is needed and then donated what they could”.
