Everyday Should Be Teacher Appreciation Day

• Bookmarks: 812044

It is Teacher Appreciation Week and it’s time for our students to show gratitude for AISG’s hardworking educators.

This week is a reminder to all students to show appreciation for their teachers and to give thanks for all the hard work they put into making sure that their students are successful.

According to The School Specialty website, National Teacher Day was an idea originated by former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt back in 1953 when she persuaded Congress that there needed to be a day to recognize teachers. It wouldn’t be until 27 years later that that day would be put into effect.

International Teacher Appreciation Day is celebrated on May 7th. The National Education Association describes it “as a day for honouring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.”

“Teachers just want kids to be happy,” Jason Boyd an art teacher at AISG said, “Have fun and learn.”

“It’s just nice every once in a while, to know that people value what we do in this profession,” Alexis Partee an Individuals and Societies teacher said.

Students can say thank you to their teachers in many different ways. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just saying a small thank you is all that is needed.

Here are some things that the students at AISG are thankful for:

“They’re continuance of maintaining a positive mindset towards our learning,” a grade 10 student said.

“They give us a lot of time to do our work and still accept overdue assignments,” another grade 10 student said.

“They always help me with questions I have and also make sure I do my best,” a grade 8 student said.

“I’m thankful for them teaching me and working hard,” a grade 9 student said.

This week shouldn’t be the only week we appreciate our teachers. They should be respected and appreciated every day. AISG’s teachers are always going to be there to make sure that their students are the best version of themselves. So the next time you see your teachers, give them a big thank you to show your appreciation.
