After saying all of our farewells to the teachers who left our community last year, now comes the time to extend a friendly greeting to all of our new teachers and faculty. This article will be the first to introduce a few of our new teachers, but there will be other articles as well, so keep an eye out for those.

After interviewing Mr. Madden, I was able to gather that he is a big fan of Manchester United and he is originally from

Manchester England. Madden has been a teacher for 25 years and has had the opportunity to spend time in various countries. He started in Togo and from there he went to Oman, Cambodia, Syria, Malaysia, Angola, Dubai, and now AISG. Madden teaches chemistry and integrated science.

Being a lover of music, some of Madden’s hobbies include playing the guitar, bass. He also likes to take photographs and although he has only been in Guangzhou for a few weeks, he said that “[he] really likes Guangzhou and the architecture and all of the skyscrapers.”

Another new science teacher to join the faculty is Ms. Brown and she “claim[s] Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as [her] home.” She is teaching biology and grade 9 integrated science at AISG. Brown has taught in South Carolina and Uzbekistan.  She enjoys reading, knitting, coloring, and anything that keeps her busy.

Brown’s parents were wanderers, so she moved around from place to place when she was younger, but she “[has] loved every place [she] has lived.” So far, Brown likes Guangzhou and says that “[AISG] is lovely, the students are lovely.”

These are just two of our new teachers, but they are both excited to be working at AISG and have a passion for science.
