After having their highest placement in APAC volleyball last year, the varsity boys and girls are looking to get even better. Having practiced for about a month now, the confidence that they gained from last year should push them to win even more games this year.
On the first day of September, the AISG Varsity boys took the win after defeating Utahloy International School (UISG) by 2 sets and with an overall set score of 3-1 for AISG. Kyungtaek Lim, a Sophomore in AISG, and a starter for the team, stated that in order to win and meet the potential of AISG volleyball team, the players must be enthusiastic no matter what. Though the team made some minor mistakes against Utahloy, Kyungtaek believes that by being enthusiastic, they can improve for their performance upcoming the tournament in October.
Early last week, the varsity girls grabbed the win in straight sets (3-0) over the Utahloy girls. Tiffany Chan, a libero in the volleyball team, said that “teamwork is the key to success.” And her teammate Becky Renfrew further explained the idea when she stated that “The team must bond, work as a unit and work as one.” The girls have one friendly matches coming up on September 6th and they will be looking to capitalize on their previous victory with another one.
The first major tournament is coming up on the 9th of September through to the 11th of September for both the boys and the girls. The volleyball season is brimming with great anticipation and we hope to see a great year ahead of the Rams. Go Rams!
