Trump vs. Clinton: The Final Debate

• Bookmarks: 592745

The most recent and final presidential debate took place today, October 20, 2016, between the two presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Similar to the previous debates, this debate was full of accusing the other of a wrongdoing and trying to damage each other’s reputation. The debate had three key accusations made where both candidates tried to mock each other and counterclaim the attacks being made.

The first key moment of the debate was when Trump was asked whether he will choose to admit the election result at the end. He refuses to give a clear answer to this question and claims that the election is “rigged” due to the fact that Clinton, a dangerous person who committed a very serious crime is running for president. However, Hillary fights back by saying that this is a typical Trump reaction when things are not going in his favor and this trait would be a huge problem if he is elected president.

The second critical moment of the debate was when Clinton accused Trump of being a ‘puppet of Putin’. Hillary attacked Trump by saying this after his lenient actions when it was discovered that several Russian hackers made efforts to influence the outcome of the election. Also, Clinton indicates how complimentary Trump was towards Putin when he commended Putin over Obama. Trump responded by accusing Hillary of being the ‘puppet of Putin’ and that Hillary does not like Putin because he outsmarts her in every way.

The last pivotal moment of the debate was when both candidates were trading shots about the other’s charity foundations. When Clinton said she was “thrilled to talk about the Clinton Foundation,” Trump attacked her by calling the foundation “a criminal enterprise”. He stated that the foundation receives money from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, countries where women are treated poorly, while Hillary is a woman who fights for women’s rights. He also said that the foundation should stop receiving money. Hillary retaliated by stating that what her foundation does is better than Trump’s foundation, which takes money from other people and uses it to buy a six-foot portrait of Trump.

Throughout the presidential debate, both candidates tried their best to accuse the other of conducting a wrongdoing. However, this presidential debate marks the end of the debate between the two candidates and from now, the two candidates will start their real fight to gain more votes from the citizens and ultimately consolidate their position as the new president of the United States.
