Congratulations to the girls’ Varsity Soccer team for placing 8th in this year’s Super APAC tournament! The 2017 Super APAC Soccer Tournament was hosted at the International School of Beijing from April 12 to April 16. Our girls’ soccer team played some phenomenal games against 11 schools.

With the great win of a score of 6 to 1 in their first game against Taejon Christian International School, they continued being steady throughout the whole APAC Tournament. Grace Tang commented, “A memorable moment for me was winning our game against TCIS. It felt good to win a match and I think we really pulled together as a team. Despite our lack of experience, we were able to finish in 8th place, which was a pretty impressive accomplishment.”

With other memorable games played against other schools, captain of the girl’s soccer team Nina Sepahi said, “the best moment at Super APAC was when we tied Pudong in our final game off of a free kick. We took them to penalties and it was so exciting because we had never been in that position before.”

With this year’s tournament results, Nina commented, “Next year I hope to take the progress we made this year and develop it even further,” and she hopes that more people will try out for next year’s soccer team.

As all Super APAC tournaments are great experiences, Nina mentioned that “this year’s Super APAC was one of the most fun APAC’s I have ever been to. It was really cool to see everyone from all 12 schools because it gave us the chance to meet up with old friends and make new ones.” Grace Tang added, “I thought it was a fun experience. We improved a lot as a team, and I think everyone had a good time!”

Although this is the seniors last year of soccer Super APAC, seniors Sinou Thangal, Stella Lee and Rachel Lo were really happy and satisfied with this year’s Super APAC. Sinou said “I’d say this year was pretty great! I think it was definitely a nice way to end high school”. Stella also said ” It was really fun! I was very excited to meet up again with soccer players in other schools. It was definitely a great opportunity for me before graduating”.

Senior Stella Lee also had suggestions and comments for the upcoming year of soccer, she suggested to “Have pre-season practices next year. If we can get fit before the season, then we’ll be able to focus on training soccer skills and strengthening the team bond”.

Once again, congratulations to the girl’s soccer team for their great season.
