APAC Awards Night:

On May 5th, our school had our annual APAC Awards Night. Congratulation to all of the students who won an award. For those of you who don’t know about the event, the APAC Awards Night is a school event where we honor the accomplishments of our students athletes and artists in the past school year. For more on that topic, you can read more about it in Sara’s article on The Beacon.

Prom:

Our prom this year’s theme is “Wildest Dreams.” This year, the Prom was held at The Four Seasons Hotel on May 19th thanks to the effort of Pulse. It’s a great event for the students, especially the seniors since it’s their last prom and it’s a fitting way to celebrate after they survived IB. You can read more about it in Karan’s article on The Beacon.

New Theater:

It’s here! After years of anticipation, the theater is finally here! We at Beacon just want to say a huge thanks to all of the hard work of everyone involved in the theater. Without the help of our Special Project Manager: Si Hu, Facility’s Manager: Wen Wei Zheng, School Services Manager: Faye Huang, Theater Manager: Ken Liu and many, many others who spent their time and efforts on making the theater such a success. The new theater opened on May 23rd after the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

High School Spring Concert:

Now, as many of you know, the High School Spring Concert took place on the opening ceremony and it featured some of the best and most talented musicians in our school. At the concert, there was our High School Jazz Band, High School String Ensemble, our High School Choir, a solo dance performance by Gwen Farm and our High School Wind Ensemble. Find out more about it at Grace’s article on The Beacon.

Graduation:

Now move on to our seniors who are graduating from our school. Their graduation was held in our new theater on May 24th. It was a very emotional event with the students and faculties saying goodbye to the class of 2017. One of the highlight of the ceremony was the speeches. As always, the graduation featured speeches given by two students and two teachers chose by the class of 2017. For the student speeches, the class of 2017 chose Calvin Fan, who gave his speech titled “Undecided” and Roran Lee who gave his speech titled “Literally Speechless.” And as for the teachers, the class of 2017 chose Ms. Barga and Ms. Martin-Bauer who also gave an amazing speech. The graduation ceremony this year is unlike others because that the seniors this year got to graduate in the brand new AISG theater and there was catering provided by the Garden Hotel. You can read more about it on Sara and Jennifer’s article on The Beacon.

Faculties

Along with the seniors are some faculty members who are also leaving. Here at The Beacon interviewed and did a few articles on them.

The school year of 2016 to 2017 has been an incredible year. Let’s hope that next school year would be even better! Hope you have a great summer.
