A Day for Family Fun

• Bookmarks: 29984

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and there were smiles plastered across everyone’s faces. Although the smiles were mixed with sweat, it certainly didn’t faze anyone: it was the PTA Family Fun Day.

There were several booths to visit, all offering different things, such as games run by community service groups and food provided by numerous restaurants. I interviewed Penny Blay, the president of the PTA.

When asked, “How do you think Family Fun Day was this year?” Mrs. Blay replied, “Family Fun Day was a great success, we had great weather—even though it was hot, at least it wasn’t raining. Plenty of volunteers and members of the AISG community showed up in force to support the PTA and student groups in their fundraising efforts.”

Family Fun Day has been an annual event for the past several years, so I asked Mrs. Blay, “How has this event changed over the years for the better?”

“One change PTA has done was the transition from a ‘cash’ event to a ‘ticket’ event—it’s made everything so much more convenient. AISG families, student groups and food vendors no longer have to fuss over giving change or handling cash during the event. The PTA has also made sure to add a wide variety of food so that there’s something for everyone to eat.”

“If you could change one thing to make this event more of a success in coming years, what would that be?”

“That’s a really good but tough question. If I think of something new and positive that would change Family Fun Day significantly it could be to incorporate live music. The PTA were very honored to have some of our students along with Tony Bott play live every year which was certainly delightful.”

Clearly, this event was, and has been for a long time, extremely successful, making it enjoyable for our Rams of all ages.
