On October 28th, Apple announced the AirPods pro that is set to release on October 30th. This was a surprise release from apple with many consumers not expecting new AirPods to be released this year after. Apple had just released AirPods 2 in March, but it disappointed many consumers due to the lack of changes. To rectify this, many changes were made on the AirPods Pro to make it an upgrade from the regular AirPods.
The biggest change that was made was the implementation of noise-canceling technology, showing that Apple has been listening to the demands of their consumers. There are now three different audio modes: noise-canceling, normal, and transparency. The active noise cancellation mode improves the sound by blocking a majority of ambient sounds, and the transparency mode allows the user to listen to the music while hearing everything that is around him or her.
Made changes have also been made to the appearance. Apple has implemented a silicon tip on the earbuds to increase comfort, and it could be taken off and adjusted according to the size of one’s ears. The silhouette of the earbuds has been reduced in length and the silicon tip has increased the overall width, this caused the case to become wider and shorter in size. There has also been an increase in battery life, wireless charging, water-resistance, and better Bluetooth connection on the AirPods Pro.
The market price of this product is $250 or 1999 RMB while the normal AirPods are $200 or 1500 RMB. In my opinion, it is a great product to buy if one is looking for a luxury wireless earbud, but not worth it if one already has the regular AirPods.
Sean P., a junior stated that “[He] wants to buy the new AirPods Pro, due to its noise-canceling functions. It would be very convenient to use on a plane, bus or train to cancel out the noise from the method of transportation. It would allow [him] to get some quality sleep time on the morning and afternoon bus rides.”
Luca D., a junior stated that “[He] would like to buy the AirPods Pro because [he] think it is the best earbuds on the market right now. A downside is its hefty price of 2000 RMB, [he] would need to save up for a long time to afford such a purchase, but the product would be worth the price in the end. “
