AISG Gears Up for Family Fun Day!

Family Fun Day, an AISG fan-favorite event, is returning once again! It is hosted every year by the AISG Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and will take place at AISG’s elementary school campus on Ersha Island instead of Science Park this year. It will be held on Saturday, September 21, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Some attractions include family races, student booths, a bounce house, face painting, and a dunk tank.

Every year AISG’s service groups such as The English Connection (TEC), Global Issues Network, and Habitat for Humanity set up student booths with various games and attractions in order to raise money for their respective causes. This year, for example, Connect 4 Cancer (C4C), will be running the game: “What’s in the Box!” C4C coordinator Alison L. states that “people will get three chances to guess what the mystery item in the box is and win prizes for everything they get right.” The money raised will go towards “funding for the Children’s Hope Foundation, for treatment for underprivileged children with cancer in Guangzhou,” says Alison. Another service group, TEC (The English Connection), will be selling baked goods such as cupcakes and will conduct “ping pong races.”

Chhavi K. a student coordinator for TEC, states, “I’m looking forward to Family Fun Day this year, even more so because of the change in venue.” Something new and unlike other years is that Family Fun Day will now take place in the Ersha campus due to space constraints in Science Park. The AISG campus in Science Park is currently undergoing construction, and therefore it’s not feasible to hold such a large event over there. Chhavi thinks that the change in venue will allow a larger number of elementary schoolers to “come and join the festivities!” The Science Park campus is widely known to be far away from the center of Guangzhou, which makes it harder for people to come and attend community events. Grace C, a junior, says that “Family Fun Day in Ersha is much easier for me because it’s closer and I don’t need to worry about transport.”

Chhavi K. is really excited for Family Fun Day because “Family Fun Day is a time where the entire AISG community can come together and have some fun.” She further goes on to say “Everyone gets to take a break, and just have fun! I also feel like it allows people to interact with new students and build a stronger community!”

Don’t forget to mark your calendars! Family Fun Day will provide a welcome respite from the strain of school-work and will allow the Rams community to come together and have some fun.

Hope to see you and your family there!
