AISG Varsity Girls and Boys’ Badminton Teams First Game of the Season!

• Bookmarks: 892071

On Tuesday, February 21, the first badminton games of the season for the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams took place. The game was against BIGZ, and even though it was a friendly game, AISG played competitively to the best of their ability.

The game provided many opportunities for both teams, as students could make new friends and accumulate more experience through their practices to recognize what they have improved on and in what ways they need to continue to improve.

This friendly game was also a great opportunity for the freshman and new players who had started badminton this year.

“Before the game, I was very excited and had pictured the game in my mind, but I was also feeling a bit nervous, I had no idea about the other team’s skill level,” said Candy C., a member of the varsity girls’ team who played two matches for the double position. “I think we did a great job but maybe could’ve improved on our team awareness and to hone our communication skills.”

“I was excited since it was our first game of the season. However, I wasn’t nervous because I knew it was a friendly match. I still played very seriously though, out of respect for my opponents,” said Cindy Z., a member of the varsity girls’ team who played for the girls’ single position. “I think it undoubtedly was a good game, and it was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the skills that we’ve been practicing.”

AISG had two singles, two doubles, and two mixed teams each for both boys and girls.

The teams were spirited and performed well. Both varsity teams and the AISG community is looking forward to their upcoming games and hoping for many official wins to come.

The junior varsity badminton teams have their first game on March 4, and the girls’ varsity badminton team has their second game on March 4 as well.
