AISG’s 2022 Musical Bugsy Malone Rehearsals Kick Off!

The first full week of rehearsals for AISG’s musical this year, Bugsy Malone, began this Monday. Coming back from last year’s Annie Jr., the school-wide musical production is a highly anticipated event every year.

Bugsy Malone follows the story of a group of peculiarly spoofed gangsters, reminiscent of old gangster movies. The musical is known to be played by children both in professional and amateur productions.

Taking place in an unnamed setting, reminiscent of New York, in the prohibition era, the cast of characters uses toy guns and whipped cream to replace regular machine guns and bullets.

The cast of AISG’s Bugsy Malone production consists of multiple students across every single grade!

“I was incredibly surprised about being casted as Bugsy. It seems unreal to me, but I’m so excited,” said Lihn T., a junior at AISG and long-running participant in AISG’s musicals, who was cast as the leading role, “Bugsy”.

“I really hope the musical goes well this year, said Jenny L., a senior at AISG with a dedication to acting and musical theater, who was cast as “Blousey”, the story’s female lead. “It can be pretty chaotic at times since all of the grades are mixing, but we all build a strong sense of community and it’s so much fun.”

Rehearsals are taking place every day after school except for Wednesdays. The cast and the crew are beginning their weeks of hard work to practice and prepare for the final set of shows.
