On September 17, AISG high school students stayed after school from 3:30-7:30 pm to watch the volleyball matches for both girls and boys varsity volleyball teams and then partake in any gym activity of their choice. This was the first Friday Night Lights, a new series hosted by the AISG Athletic Council, where one Friday a month, high schoolers have the opportunity to spend time with their friends and classmates in the gym by playing their favorite sports and fun games alike.
The activities students took part in throughout the entire gym included volleyball, basketball, badminton, and one-touch. Snacks such as chips and chocolate were provided by AISG’s Business Club, and students had the freedom to take part in team activities across all grades or to find their own space in the gym to play with their friends.
Upbeat music played from the speakers in the gym as students enjoyed time off of their devices on Friday after school, taking part in healthy and fun exercise. Friday Night Lights achieved a great turnout, and it will definitely be continuing as the season one of sports at AISG comes to an end and season two begins.
Many students and teachers at AISG enjoy watching AISG’s sports teams compete in matches and tournaments at school, which allows Friday Night Lights to gain participants who can have extra time after watching games to play their own sports.
