• Bookmarks: 401045

Last Saturday, March 25th, ASIG’s Quizbowl team played against Shekou International School (SIS) in a friendly Quizbowl tournament. This was a fun opportunity for students to play against other people who also had a similar interest in knowing things.

Players were put into teams with a maximum of four and played a round-robin style game of Trivia. Two teams compete for the most points in 25 minutes with each question being worth 10 to 15 points depending on how fast they buzzed to answer the question.

“The questions are based on something of everything, history, literature, fine arts, pop culture,” Alexis Partee, the TOK and Economics teacher at AISG said, “there’s a wide range of topics.”

Alexis Partee is also the Coach this year for the quizbowl team, with the knowledge and passion from playing back in high school and joining in on the teacher vs student competitions at AISG.

“I take quizbowl very seriously, I played quizbowl in high school,” She said, “I just like knowing things, quizbowl is one of the places where randomly knowing things is helpful and in high school that was my place I could go and be weird with other people that also knew things.”

The students in quizbowl also had a lot of fun at this competition,

“It was a pretty fun competition”, Alex M. a grade 10 student said, “it was a really nice and relaxed atmosphere.”

Leo H. another 10th grader said, “It was a great tournament.”

Quizbowl is a great opportunity for students to play around with knowledge and take it to competitive levels. It is a place for students to have fun and socialize with others that share the same interests.

The students have passionate coaches who are willing to share their desire for knowledge with others and turn this random knowledge into something fun and exciting.
