As AISG’s first-ever final exams in over two years creep closer each day, students are starting to pull out old papers and create study guides to try to keep up. Hear from Christine L., a freshman herself at AISG, about her unique methods of studying and how they’re feeling about the upcoming finals.
1. Are you looking forward to the exams?
I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to exams, but I am excited to finally get them over with and not have that lingering feeling of needing to study every waking hour.
2. What are your methods of studying, and why?
My methods of studying are relatively simple. I review the main points we’ve gone over throughout the semester, double-check that I know the correct answer to any mistakes I made on the last tests, and of course, complete review papers of study guides that our teachers may provide for us.
3. Do you think students are more worried than usual about the exams?
I think there might be slightly more pressure now to review than before because of the number of projects we were working on as of last week and thus get to study as much as we did last semester.
4. What advice would you give other students struggling to prepare?
The advice I would fire to students struggling to prepare is to get as many distractions away from them as possible, such as phones, tv, and games that could derive you away from your studying. Also make a plan of how long you’re going to study which subject and what things you’d like to cover. Creating a well-planned outline of what you want to accomplish is the most efficient way of completing all your tasks.
Lastly, give yourself a lot of breaks and do things to decompress from all the stress that exams can bring. Sleep and relaxation are the best things you can do for your brain in preparation. As long as you’ve been keeping up with your review and work throughout the semester, there should be no need to overwork yourself and study late into the nights.
