All about the Connect 4 Cancer CCA, their Achievements and Aspirations!

Connect 4 Cancer (C4C), run by student coordinators Chih C. and Jasmine L., is a service group working to support children with cancer and help with their recovery. 

 Connect 4 Cancers’ purpose is to give hope to children and their families by assisting them. 

The community service group aims and was started to raise awareness about the treatment of cancer for underprivileged children who cannot afford the necessary treatment and to eliminate discrimination against them. 

 Connect 4 Cancer offers financial support to children who cannot afford treatment, moreover they provide necessities to their families including baby formula. 

 Connect 4 Cancer participates in school events to raise money, as well as visiting the Children’s Hope Foundation to interact with the families and children who are battling cancer. 

 “During home visits, I felt very touched as I saw the strength the children had to beat cancer,” said Katherine Liu, a freshman at AISG and member of C4C. “I definitely felt rewarded seeing the smiles on the faces of the children and their parents. Emotionally, we demonstrate support and help them understand that there are people in society that are always willing to help.” 

 “Even though I’ve only ever visited the families once, I’ve learned a lot about their everyday life through those interactions,” said Melody D., a sophomore at AISG and member of C4C. “The kids nevertheless managed to impress me with their open-mindedness and desire to find the good in this situation. They were unquestionably grateful when we gave them supplies.”  

Connect 4 Cancer is also one of the oldest community service groups at AISG and is known for its Pantene Beautiful Lengths Event, which is held each year at AISG’s International Day, Holiday Bazaar, and Family Fun Day. 

 Similar to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Event, in which people can donate a minimum of 8 inches or 20 centimeters of hair as a donation, C4C also hosts other hair donation events in which they donate the hair to the Hair 4 Hope foundation based in the United States.
