A new year means new expectations and new goals. This year’s AISG cross country team has high hopes for the upcoming races and is focused on building up its level of fitness to create the highest possibility for success. The coaches for this year’s team are Ms. Maine and Mr. Paras.

Freshman Elia P. stated, “I am really looking forward to this season. This being my first year on varsity, I am nervous, but at the same time, excited. The team’s dedication and commitment have really been inspirational.”

The team is training four times a week, preparing both physically and mentally for upcoming races. This year, the coaches have implemented a new way of training. Practices are more structured now, allowing runners to train more efficiently. Additionally, the coaches are focusing on increasing the stamina and strength in runners, implementing long-distance runs and sprints.

Girls’ team captain Cindy W. said, “this year we are building a relatively young team, but undeniably there are a lot of strong returning runners. Among them, I see dedication, passion and more importantly, determination to ‘conquer’ the season and the upcoming races. Along with Rahul, I wish we can guide the team to victory and bring home medals.” As the boys’ cross country team captain, I am really looking forward to this season and am proud about the effort all the runners have put in. I am sure if we continue to keep practicing hard, we will have a successful season.

This year is no different from the previous ones—with multiple races throughout the season. The first race will be held at AISG on September 7. The team will also travel to Bangkok for an annual race hosted by International School of Bangkok (ISB), from September 19-21.
