An Exciting New Chapter: Moving Into The New Building

A busy year this has been. With several schedule changes, returning students, and, of course, the pandemic going on around us, our community is constantly changing. And of these changes, the biggest is the new building.

Part of our school’s “master plan” to rework the entire campus, the entire HS-MS AISG community has moved into the new building while the original main building is being renovated. With entirely new classrooms, a new cafeteria, and a new library, it took a while for all the students to get adjusted.

“It was really a bit of a mess the first day,” said junior Andrew Z. “The classroom layout was confusing because not all rooms are assigned a specific teacher.”

With less rooms overall, some rooms have to be shared by teachers, only used when there are classes in that particular subject. Confusing at first, most of the student body also adjusted quickly to the changes.

“It was a bit hard to wrap my head around it at the start, because I was so used to our previous setup where a certain room was a certain teacher’s,” said senior Paoping Y. “But as soon as I realized it meant we had to walk around slightly less, I adjusted really quickly.”

The new building is surely a massive change to what the school environment was like previously. With every classroom featuring glass walls that can be seen through from the common area between classrooms, there is a lot of natural light that gets into the rooms. On top of that, the cafeteria is now in the same building as the classrooms, reducing the time that students had to walk previously to get lunch.

Overall, most of the student body has accepted the new building for what it is already, welcomingly or reluctantly. After all, we will be here for the foreseeable future, so we should all get used to it!
