Apple product announcements are rarely laid-back, and the March 8 Peak Performance event on Tuesday was no different with a plethora of new gadgets that were announced.

There’s a new iPad Air 5 with the M1 chip, while the iPhone SE 3 features A15 Bionic power, 5G, and multiple camera enhancements. Apple has also revealed the new Mac Studio computer, which features a blistering M1 Ultra CPU that essentially combines two chips into one. In addition, a new Apple Studio Display with 5K resolution has been announced.

“I always looked forward to Apple Events because of the sneak peeks we get at new products that are getting released. This event was no different and although the new Mac is out of my budget I couldn’t help getting excited to see how much the technology has improved compared to last year,” says Sophia P. a

Apple’s media invitation, which was distributed through email, featured a rainbow Apple logo that appeared to move on a black background. “Peek performance,” says the tagline. Fans rave over apples clever marketing wordplay; instead of using “peak” in their tagline, which is commonly combined with “performance”, apple decided to use “peek” which sounds the same and is fitting for the scenario as we only see products briefly during an event.

“I didn’t notice the double meaning at first but after seeing the reactions online, I was amused by the wordplay, simultaneously understanding just how much thought goes into the small details at these big events,” says Alicia B. a senior at AISG.

Apple demonstrated the devices in an all-virtual event that was broadcasted live on the company’s website as well as youtube. The company streamed from Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Since the Covid-19 outbreak began two years ago, the tech giant has conducted online-only events.
